RAPIDS TO HOST FAITH AND FUTBOL NIGHT ON SEPTEMBER 24

Midfielder Wells Thompson to speak at the event presented by Colorado Christian University

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Tuesday, September 20, 2011) -The Colorado Rapids and Colorado Christian University are teaming up to present Faith and Futbol Night at Dick's Sporting Goods Park on Saturday, September 24, when the Rapids take on the San Jose Earthquakes in their first of three remaining regular season home games. The event will feature speeches from Rapids midfielder Wells Thompson and former Liverpool player Gary Evans, the current head coach of the men's team at Colorado Christian University, as well as live performances by Christian rock groups Chasen and Everfound.

The Great Laser Event! (And Archery, Too!)

Here is your chance to participate in a fun, intergenerational event for all ages on Sunday September 26th from 9:15 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. A large tent will be set up at Nativity Lutheran Church, 12500 E. 104th Avenue, Commerce City, for the laser events with an area cordoned off for archery. The Lasershot is played on a large projection screen at which the players aim their Electronic Shooting Simulators.There will be various games at which to test the players skills. On July 21-24 2010, 270 adults and youth from the Denver North Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will TREK in the footsteps of pioneer tragedy and faith at Martin’s Cove, Wyoming. They will be pulling handcarts laden with all their food and possessions, cooking their meals over campfires and walking 6-15 miles each day. They will each be given the name of a pioneer to honor and remember their story. The theme of the Trek is from Joshua 1:9 “ Be of a good courage”.
